Vicopisano, February 8, 2024 – Restoring the historic ‘Frantoio di Caprona‘ to its original function: helping to support olive cultivation on Monte Pisano with the best possible service, revitalizing the olive sector and its related industries. This is the venture of entrepreneur Leonardo Paolino – CEO of Podere del Pari, a new startup of the Extrasys Group focused on revitalizing the olive oil supply chain and who has invested 1.3 million euros in the project. For the management and care of Frantoio di Caprona – in the municipality of Vicopisano (PI), a facility owned by Cooperativa Oleificio dei Monti Pisani (Il Frantoio del Monte Pisano Srl) – the investment includes the renovation of the entire facility through significant efficiency improvements, modernization, and optimization of machinery and the entire production line.

The New Management

“The new management will be possible with the ‘hiring of competent and permanent staff – the company emphasizes. – While in the coming weeks, the Frantoio di Caprona will also be rejuvenated aesthetically, both externally and internally. The’‘goal is to be ready for the next season to meet the high quality and service standards that we have set as our primary objective’”. The Frantoio di Caprona is thus preparing to embark on a new adventure with Caterina Da Cascina, the current president of Cooperativa Oleificio dei Monti Pisani, continuing at the helm as she has for the past six years. “We are happy about Leonardo Paolino’s arrival,” says Caterina Da Cascina. “After six years, tremendous effort, and a lot of money invested, including my personal funds, starting from an initially dramatic situation, we had reached a point of no return where we couldn’t cover our expenses.”

On one side the Cooperative, on the other Leonardo Paolino’s venture, who has come to invest in the future of Monte Pisano and its extra virgin olive oil.“Over the years,” adds Paolino, “the need to dedicate my energy to “primary” activities has grown stronger – those where you feel you’ve contributed to improving our community. I want to reverse the trend that has seen olive groves reach an abandonment rate of over 70%. I want to do something for our territory.” The Cooperativa Oleificio dei Monti Pisani will guarantee members access to services at controlled prices. “For members – adds Caterina Da Cascina – services will continue to be at preferential rates and of higher quality.
The Cooperativa Oleificio dei Monti Pisani is more alive than ever and will maintain its role in safeguarding and monitoring for its members.
In addition to organizing events and promotional activities on Monte Pisano.
