A Story of Passion for Nature and Olive Growing

The new Frantoio del Monte Pisano was born from passion and dedication to olive growing and the desire to enhance the territory and nature of Monte Pisano. The olive tree, an “extraordinary plant with a millennial tradition and generous fruits, finds an ideal habitat in Monte Pisano thanks to its mild climate and fertile soil, characteristics that contribute to the production of superior quality extra virgin olive oil.
We are more than an oil mill: we are custodians of an evolving tradition, innovators focused on quality and sustainability, promoters of an oil culture that goes beyond the table”.

The Story Begins Long Ago

In August 1971, the agricultural cooperative Oleificio Sociale dei Monti Pisani was established in Caprona, in the municipality of Vicopisano. The Oleificio has a long history in Monte Pisano olive oil production, significantly contributing to the local economy and Tuscan olive-growing tradition.

Founded with “the intent to enhance and support the” rural economy, the cooperative grew to serve over a thousand clients, including 500 members, among whom were local olive growers and the best producers from Monte Pisano municipalities and surrounding areas.

Over the years, olive growing, particularly the type typical of Monte Pisano, characterized by terracing, became an increasingly challenging sector, with few companies continuing to invest in olive grove maintenance and harvesting. Consequently, the oil mill went through a difficult period, dropping from 1,800 tons of olives processed for milling in the 1980s to about 100 tons in recent harvest seasons.

The revival of Frantoio del Monte Pisano

After the recent years of difficulties, in 2023 the mill management was taken over by “former IT entrepreneur Leonardo Paolino and became Frantoio del Monte Pisano. T” he company now aims to restart with high quality standards in the production process, with upgraded machinery to streamline production phases, and qualified, competent staff.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the “tireless work of those who have supported the growth of the” oil mill and its evolution over the years, particularly the Bonanni family, who contributed greatly to the mill’s development, and more recently, Caterina Da Cascina for her total dedication.

From 2024, thanks to the synergy with institutions, olive growers, and local entrepreneurs, the mill has once again become a reference point in the territory for excellence in olive growing, respecting all production phases: from proper field management to harvesting, from processing to packaging and marketing. The “objective is to produce ‘the best possible extra virgin olive oil’, obtained from milling” excellent raw material: the olives from our territory.
